High Risk Delivery and NICU Care for Premature Newborns

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in St. Louis

Missouri Baptist Medical Center's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) cares for premature babies with birth weight of more than 1000 grams and gestational age of more than 28 weeks.

Should your baby be born early or have special health needs, he or she will receive the benefit of a unique collaboration right here in our NICU.

We’ve brought together Missouri Baptist NICU staff with Washington University Neonatologists and Pediatricians from St. Louis Children’s Hospital, one of the best pediatric hospitals in the country, for an unparalleled quality of care in high risk situations or multiple births.

A pediatrician or neonatologist and a specially-trained nurse join the delivery team for every high-risk pregnancy. These additional team members are there specifically for the babies. If you are having multiple babies, there is a team for each baby.

In addition, we offer two on-site locations for High Risk Pregnancy Care & Obstetrics ultrasound testing. Through BJC Medical Group Maternal Fetal Medicine & Center for Women’s Wellness and Fetal Health, we provide a team of highly-trained obstetricians specializing in high-risk pregnancies, genetic counselors, ultrasound technologists, nurses, perinatologists and pediatric specialists who are experts in preventative care. We don’t just react to emergencies; we take measures to prevent and control complications.

Your baby receives this top-level care without having to leave Missouri Baptist. But rest assured, should your baby require surgery or an extremely high level of care, he or she will be transferred to St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
